Today, we did a breakdown about Katie Perry’s song Firework we looked at how symbolism and imagery works. Then we looked at similes and Metaphors.
Symbolism
Symbolism is when you use a thing to describe something else is qualities but not literally using that thing like trying to make a felling out of the qualities. For example there is a line that says “Do you ever fell like a plastic bag drifting in the wind. The reason that it is symbolism is it paints a picture in your head that you may be lost, useless and Invisible. Their was a lot of symbolism in this song here are some more examples.”Do you ever fell paper thin” this paints a picture in your head that you might be vulnerable, exposed, weak and sensitive. Then there is “ You’re a fire work’’ it paints a picture that you can be confident, you can let you feelings out and allow your self to be bight or the center of attention.
Imagery
Imagery is when you describe a picture to paint a image of some thing persons head.. Some times this can be the same words as symbolism but they still mean different things. Hear are some examples of imagery. “ Do you ever feel like a plastic bag drifting though the wind’’, “ Do you
ever fell so paper thin” and there is many more.
Similes
Similes are word that have like or as in their sentence their was multiple simile sin this story.
Hear are some examples. “ Like a waste of time”, “ like a lighting bolt’’,” like a plastic bag” and “ like a house of cards”.
Metaphors
Metaphors are when you say something like a simile but with out like it often has your. This metaphors shorter most the time. There was one metaphor that shows up multiple times in the song this is the metaphor “ Baby your a fire work”.
Tone
The tone in this song Is that it starts sad then builds up then hits the chorus and it goes all happy from there on.
I think it goes like this because it gives engagement.
This is the song
Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind
Wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards
One blow from caving in?
Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams, but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there’s still a chance for you
‘Cause there’s a spark in you
You just gotta ignite the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July
‘Cause, baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe
You don’t have to feel like a waste of space
You’re original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow
Maybe a reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it’s time, you’ll know
You just gotta ignite the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July
‘Cause, baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It’s always been inside of you, you, you
And now it’s time to let it through
‘Cause, baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, make your colors burst
Make ’em go, “Oh, oh, oh”
You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
