My Makiariki Art

Matariki Blog

Matariki is a time to acknowledge the dead and to release their spirits to become stars. It was also a time to reflect, to be thankful to the gods for the harvest, to feast and to share the bounty of the harvest with family and friends.

For Art, we have been making a collaborative Matariki Star.

First, we draw the designs on a star shaped piece of paper.

Then you sketched your design on the diamond shaped foam.

Next I poked holes in the foam.

Then connected the holes up so it has a out line up.

Then you get it printed with ink using a roller and push it on some paper to get your design. My one was some koru’s  on the side of the diamond shaped foam. It was fun.

Felix physics

Today I filed 2 slides about Felix physics here are the slides .

I had some text to read about energy

In the space below write what you have learnt about potential, kinetic and gravitational energy and an give example of each.

  1. Potential energy is stored energy  and an example of this is if you were on top  of a slide and not going down the slide it would be potential energy.
  2. Kinetic energy is moving energy and a example of this is if you go down  a slide it would be

kinetic energy.

  1. Gravitational energy is a energy that pull a object  to the ground example is that if I drop a

Banana it would drop because of gravity.

  1. Elastic energy is the energy that is stored in Elastic as a result of it compressing and stretching. For example if you stretch a rubber band the elastic energy make it ping.
  2. Chemical energy is energy stored in chemical boned and it change from a form of energy to another.

Comprehension questions:   WALT: include our question into our answer to make full clear sentences.

  1. What are some examples of chemical energy?

Answer: Examples of chemical energy are batteries, natural gas, coal.

  1. What would cause a ball to bounce higher than if it were just dropped on to the ground?

Answer: A ball would bounce higher if it gets thrown harder and it has more air  because it hit the ground harder so there is more force to send it up and more air mens it is more boncey.

  1. What are the 3 states of spring energy?

Answer: The 3 states of energy are normal screeched and compressed

  1. What is the difference between a slingshot and catapult?

Answer:  The difference between a slingshot and a catapult is and slingshot uses

Elastic energy and a catapult uses it to but not like sling.

  1. What forms of energy can you see in the picture?

Answer:  We can see kinetic energy and gravitational.
